When reporting a problem with a specific feed, please include the feed's address. Most feed issues are specific to how one publisher formats theirs, and the address is usually enough to reproduce it.
Adding a feed
Tap + and either paste a site's address or type a publication's name.
-
An address — Lede tries it as a feed, then reads the
page's own feed declarations, then probes the usual locations
(
/feed,/rss,/feed.xmland so on). You do not need to find the feed URL yourself. - A name — searches a public directory of feeds and shows matches with their subscriber counts, so you can tell the real one from a mirror.
If nothing is found, the site may genuinely not publish a feed. Some publishers have removed theirs.
Briefs
A brief covers what you have not read and what no earlier brief has already covered, so two briefs in a row never repeat themselves. If the button is disabled, everything unread is already in an earlier brief — refresh for new articles.
Briefs are written by Apple Intelligence on your device, which means:
- It needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with the feature turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri.
- The first brief after an update can take a moment while the model loads. Generating takes roughly half a minute — the progress bar advances per section.
- On a device that cannot run it, a brief still lists the headlines as published, labelled Headlines only.
To check whether the model is working on your device, open Settings › AI › Test on-device model. It runs one short request and shows the result or the reason it could not.
The daily reminder
Settings › Daily digest schedules a reminder at a time you pick. The reminder itself arrives exactly on time; tapping it opens Lede and writes the brief then, because generating one takes longer than iOS allows an app in the background. Scheduled briefs are limited to two a day — making one yourself is unlimited.
Reading
- Pull down on the timeline to refresh every feed.
- Tap the tag chips to filter; they stay pinned while you scroll.
- Settings › Mark read while scrolling marks articles read once they pass above the top of the screen.
- Long-press an article to toggle read without opening it.
Subscriptions
Lede is free to try for three days. A subscription is charged to your Apple Account and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel it in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your device — we cannot cancel it for you, and refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Changed device or reinstalled? Settings › Restore purchase brings back a subscription bought with the same Apple Account.
Your data
Everything lives on your device and nothing is collected — see the privacy policy. There is no sync, so deleting the app deletes your feeds. Settings › Reset library clears feeds and articles while leaving your subscription untouched.
