Lede

Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 September 2026

Lede collects no personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no analytics. Your feeds, your articles, what you have read and every brief stay in a database on your device.

What stays on your device

Everything Lede knows about your reading is stored locally and is never sent to us:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else, which also means it is not recoverable — Lede has no cross-device sync.

Briefs are written on your device

Lede's briefs are generated by Apple Intelligence using Apple's Foundation Models framework, which runs on the device itself. The articles being summarised are not transmitted anywhere, and nothing you read is used to train any model. Briefs can be generated with no network connection at all.

Connections Lede makes

Lede talks to the internet only to do the things you ask of it. It has no server of its own.

Subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple. Lede never sees or handles your payment details.

Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated identifier for your installation together with the App Store receipt data needed to tell whether a subscription is active. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID by Lede. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Lede also uses Apple's DeviceCheck to record whether a free trial has already been used on a device. DeviceCheck stores two bits of information with Apple and reveals nothing about you or the device.

Optional cloud AI

A future version may offer briefs generated by a cloud model for devices that cannot run Apple Intelligence. That option is not enabled in this release. If you choose to enable it in a later version by supplying your own API key, the headlines and summaries being briefed would be sent to that provider, and this policy will be updated to say so plainly before that ships.

Notifications

The daily brief reminder is a local notification, scheduled by your device. Lede has no push server and cannot send you anything remotely.

What Lede does not do

Children

Lede is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone, regardless of age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any change that affects what leaves your device will be described in the app's release notes.
